The Client

The East Rutherford, New Jersey, (just 30 minutes from New York City) American Dream™ mega mall began a phased opening in late 2019. The 3-million-square-foot property is seventy percent (70%) entertainment; equiped with the Nickelodeon Universe® theme Park, Big SNOW American Dream™ North America's first “real snow” indoor ski/snowboard park, DreamWorks Water Park, a full size ice skating rink, minature golf, indoor gardens, and a variety of other attractions.

Additionally, American Dream™ takes entertainment, dining, and retail to a whole new level, underpinned by interactive and immersive audio and video. Set to become one of the leading and largest visitor experiences in North America, American Dream™ is a feast for the senses, with its multiple LED walls and digital signage kiosks throughout the mega mall supports a fantastic visitor experience, delivering information-sharing, wayfinding, and interactive entertainment. All of this is driven by Aurora Multimedia’s video distribution equipment!

Aurora Multimedia is integral to delivering the large-scale, high-quality audio/video experience throughout this mega mall and is a powerful, flexible Ethernet network utilizing advanced AV over IP technology.

The Challenge

Networked AV-over-IP was the solution for an AV project on this scale. Bandwidth was integral to support a huge matrix of 360 sources, 300 destinations, and therefore key to this massive installation.

Aurora Multimedia’s critical role in the project, included provision of its ground-breaking 10G IPX Series, IP/AV streaming product, as the industry’s first 4K2K transceiver with zero compression and latency; which synergizes a variety of IP/AV standards to work together as one and is based on Aurora’s IPBaseT® proprietary technology.

The Solution

IPX-TC3-PRO by Aurora is the main solution. “Any device can be plugged into any port on any switch, and it will be available everywhere, says Aurora.” Choice is important. That is why the IPX fiber version has an SFP+ port that can use single or multi-mode fiber − making the IPX Series the ultimate AV IP product on the market today.

Additionally, there are several of Aurora’s IP-24PoE+ as it powers all the fiber units in this project. The IP-24PoE+ is the first ever 24 port PoE+/PoH+ injector delivering power on a 10G connection.

It is compatible with any standard 1G or 10G network switch and delivers up to 30 watts of power per port. This allowed for a clean installation for the 10G PoE capable device by alleviating the need for local power supply. Aurora designed the IP-24PoE+ for its IPX Series, AV over IP product line as it currently is the only 10G AV over IP with PoE. The IP-24PoE+ can also supply power to Aurora's HDBaseT™ PoH products providing remote powering as well.

In the case of an under powered PoE network switch, the IP-24PoE+ provided the additional power to the ports requiring and/or to simply add PoE+ to ports lacking. Taking up only 1RU of rack space the, Aurora’s IP-24PoE+ is the only 10G PoE+ solution for a clean installation.

There is full 4K60, 4:4:4, 10Gb data to every kiosk and LED wall; delivering consistent, latency-free image quality, coupled with Aurora’s IPBaseT® Manager software, controlling and routing all signaling. This results in a very powerful, flexible AV network that can keep pace with any future changes/upgrades throughout the entire American Dream mega mall.

Aurora Multimedia’s IPX Series Transports 4k Imagery throughout Massive Retail and Entertainment Destination

Aurora’s AV over IP solutions combine a variety of 4K IP technologies and features under one unified protocol using a simplified topology. Uncompressed video with zero-latency, visually lossless video with low latency, seamless switching, video wall and multiviewer modes, digital audio, USB 2.0, Ethernet, and control are just some of the core capabilities of Aurora’s AV over IP technology. Utilizing the bandwidth of a standard 1Gbps copper (VLX Series) or 10Gbps copper or fiber (IPX Series), the products support large scalable audio/video matrixing, and it does so while replacing multiple technologies and products with a "single-box" distributed platform. The days of needing a separate AV switcher, control system, video wall processor, audio/DSP converter, and more are a thing of the past!
